Its time for a summer get together. So here at people matters we thought we would organise a meet up. Come and see friends, have a dance with Amy and tell us what you think about what we should be doing. Lunch £2 but buy a ticket from the office before the day. People Matters has been become a friend of South Leeds Life. Hannah Reid one of their journalists visited us to meet some of our people and write an article about us. Hannah was very impressed by the groups she visited including the IT group on the bus that is writing our next newsletter and one of the art groups too. Family Barbeque time! We are having a family barbeque on Sunday 27th July 12.30 – 3.30pm at Moortown Rugby club. The address and map is here  All welcome, no tickets to buy.It will be great to see everyone again, its ages since the Christmas celebration, out last get together.

Its Leeds Learning Disabilities Week 16th – 20th June 14. Are you involved? We have our showcase at Leeds Trinity of course and have people shortlisted in the Photography competition from Photography Matters. (Keep your fingers crossed, winners announced on Friday).

We have also been out and about, helping out at the LGI Jubliee Wing stand on Monday and picking up useful information. Do you need information on NHS Learning Disabilities Referrals? Have you had a NHS Health Check with your doctor. You can do this every year to make sure your health needs are supported. If you have to go into hospital make sure you have a Hospital Passport organised.

The People Matters Dance Fest group is on tour! See us at the Dance Festival in North Allerton

Look our group at Hamara are doing a performance after the course they have done with Amy. What a great achievement everyone. Tickets for sale from the Halo team at Hamara for anyone who wants to go and see what they have been doing.

Fundraising

We have started fundraising to help us with the end of our Big Lottery grant

If you shop online here is a really easy way to help us that doesn’t cost a penny. Go to www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/peoplematters to select us. If you download the toolbar too then you don’t even have to search out which shopping sites will donate to us.

New Exhibition – This is a new one for us as our photography learners have their own exhibition at Trinity starting on 20th December, do come along and see what they have been doing, mince pies too!

Christmas Celebration – Get your tickets now

Our Christmas celebration is going to be at the ASDA Headquarters opposite Crown Point. It will be on 19th December 2013 at 6.30 – 9.30pm. Tickets are £6.95 each and must be purchased by 9th December. All groups will be cancelled that week so we can all get together for the evening. More information from the office on 0113 234 6896 or ask at your group. People who go to classes are also welcome, speak to your tutor.

Autumn Ball

The Autumn Ball was fantastic and an evening to remember. There are lots more pictures on our Facebook page including some great pictures of lots of different people, that fantastic cake and lots of dancing!

Art Matters is seller of the week at Fabrication

Well look at this our very own Art Matters groups are the seller of the week at Fabrication in the Light shopping centre. They have a big display in the window. Are you going to go and have a look? They will be there until Saturday 3rd August.
