Wellbeing Groups
People Matters run weekly wellbeing groups which include crafts, sports/ exercise, games, education and socialising. These are usually based at Barkston House, Holbeck, but sometimes include activities in the community. The focus of the groups changes depending on our funding, but there is always an emphasis on mental health and wellbeing. They run Mondays and Fridays 10.30-12.30 and are free to attend. You can come alone or with your own support.
We currently have funding from the Mayor’s Safer Communities Fund so we’re focusing on different types of safety. Topics include safeguarding, online safety, happy and consensual relationships, discrimination, self-advocacy, and crime. Come and get involved in a fun, active and creative programme led by group members.
How to Join
If you are interested in joining one of our social groups, email info@peoplemattersleeds.co.uk or contact us on 0113 234 6896. If you don’t attend any of our other services, you will need to complete a membership form; we like to do this together so we can get to know you. If you would like to, you can ask your parent/carer to help as well.
Cervical Cancer project
January 2023 – March 2024 we were lucky enough to get some short term funding from Leeds City Council to look at health inequalities in cervical cancer and HPV for adults with learning disabilities and / or who are autistic Our members and staff put together this resource as part of the project to have a “go to” place for accessible info for anyone who wishes to know more!
