Autumn 2016 Prospectus

Supporting a learner? – For the new year 16/17 everyone will need to do enrollment again to make sure that the information we have is up to date. Everyone who joins will need to do complete this enrolment-form-combined-16-17-v2  before term starts. You will be able to visit us to do it together, post or email it in.

Our adult learning has something for everyone, if you don’t see what you want then let us know and we can see about what we can do in the future. Some sessions are specifically for people with learning disabilities. At People Matters we include lots of interesting opportunities, from animal care to art, money handling to cooking. They can help enable outcomes in person centred plans.health amaze Our active matters groups are funded by the Peoples Health Lottery. These are led by the group members and promote health and well being.

Community learning classes are funded by Leeds City Council and the Skills Funding Agency as part of the city’s adult and community learning programme. Depending upon circumstances they can free to access. (Some classes make a small charge to cover the cost of materials). This year we have extended our partnership working by collaborating with public and third sector organisations across the city. Information about how we work of interest to partners can be found in our Adult and Community Learning Information for Partners. Are you a supported living provider, part of the health service, or other social care provider, could you display or share our poster  for us? If you can identify a group of learners and have a venue we can come to you to deliver a course of the groups choosing.

At People Matters we design courses that make a difference to peoples lives. We have access to Skills for Jobs funding too. So look out for what’s new, from filmaking to upcycling, you can look at the newsletter our computing group did too.

Our tutors are experienced and our the sample external teaching observations performed by Leeds City Council are frequently graded as good or outstanding according to the Ofsted criteria. As a long standing provider People Matters was very pleased to participate in the Ofsted Inspection of Leeds City Council Community Learning in May 2013 which resulted in provision being graded as good. The Ofsted Report 2013 is available for download.

Lots of the people on our courses also join one of our social groups and vice versa so classes are an active part of our community.
