DRUMMING GROUP

In April we held a one off drumming workshop to see if people would enjoy drumming. Five people came along and all decided to join in with the 10 week short course running over the summer term. This has been going very well so far. People have been learning to play African drums – called Djembes with there hands and bass drums with beaters. The group have been learning different ways to strike the drums with their hands to get different types of sounds.

Everyone has really enjoyed coming along and having the opportunity to make rhythms together and have the opportunity to explore different instruments at their own pace. We are in the process of putting together a short CD for the people who have attended the group to keep a copy of the rhythms they have made.

The Princes Trust have granted funding for the group to run for a whole year, starting in September. If you would like more information please get in touch with Dan at the People Matters office.
